Andong Elementary School

Andong Elementary was founded on September 1, 1960, when local parents and community leaders — including Taibao Township council chair Wu Deng-guo and councilman Xiao Huo-chuan, together with overseas Chinese donors — purchased land for a new school because the nearest existing school, Taibao Elementary, was about 3 km away, too far for young children to travel. The school's name combines characters from the Anren and Dongshi villages it serves, alongside Lunding village, and it took its current 'elementary school' designation in August 1968 under the nine-year compulsory education reform. Today it offers an astronomy curriculum, bilingual and native-language education, and campus accessibility features, under the tagline 'a joyful campus full of warmth and humanistic care.'

安東國小創立於民國49年（1960年）9月1日，由地方人士（包括時任太保鄉民代表會主席吳登國、代表蕭火傳等）與海外僑胞集資購地興學，起因是最近的太保國小距離約3公里，對幼童而言路途太遠。校名結合安仁、東勢兩村之名而來，學區並涵蓋崙頂村，於民國57年（1968年）8月九年國教改制後定名為安東國小。學校現設有天文課程、雙語與本土語言教育，以及無障礙校園設施，秉持「洋溢溫馨人文關懷的快樂學園」的辦學精神。
