🦋 Zhongpu Township

Zhongpu Township occupies the central mountainous interior of Chiayi County, covering a rugged landscape of forested ridges, river valleys, and subtropical hillsides. The township's varied elevations and consistent warmth make it ideal for growing tropical and subtropical fruits — including wax apples (蓮霧), guava (芭樂), and even small quantities of durian-like fruits during warm seasons. Zhongpu's agriculture reflects the unique climatic character of the Chiayi foothills.

The township is also a gathering point for butterfly migration. Several mountain passes in Zhongpu see spectacular concentrations of purple crow butterflies (紫斑蝶) each autumn and spring as millions of individuals move between their summer mountain habitats and winter coastal gathering sites. Watching this phenomenon — clouds of purple wings drifting through mountain passes — is one of southern Taiwan's most extraordinary natural experiences.

中埔鄉位於嘉義縣中部山區，地形崎嶇，由林木覆蓋的山脊、河谷與亞熱帶山坡組成。多樣的海拔與持續的溫暖氣候使本鄉非常適合種植熱帶與亞熱帶水果，包括蓮霧、芭樂等。中埔的農業反映了嘉義山麓獨特的氣候特色。

本鄉也是蝴蝶遷徙的聚集地。中埔數個山隘每年秋春兩季可見壯觀的紫斑蝶遷徙景象，數以百萬計的個體在夏季山地棲地與冬季海岸聚集地之間移動。望著紫色翅膀的彩雲飄過山隘，是台灣南部最令人嘆為觀止的自然奇景之一。
