✈️ Shuishang Township

Shuishang Township lies just south of Chiayi City, straddling the transition from urban fringe to agricultural plain. Its most recognizable landmark is Chiayi Airport (嘉義水上機場), the region's primary civilian and military airfield, whose runways bisect the township's flat landscape. The airport has served Chiayi County since the Japanese colonial era, when it was established as a military aviation base in the 1930s.

Away from the airport, Shuishang presents a tranquil rural landscape of lotus ponds, orchid greenhouses, and rice paddies. The lotus ponds are particularly beautiful in summer (June–August) when pink and white lotus flowers bloom across the still water surfaces, attracting photographers and recreational visitors from Chiayi City. Shuishang is also an emerging center for orchid cultivation, with greenhouses producing Phalaenopsis orchids for domestic and export markets.

水上鄉緊鄰嘉義市南方，介於城市邊緣與農業平原之間。最具代表性的地標是嘉義水上機場——嘉義縣主要的民用與軍用機場，跑道橫貫本鄉平坦地景。機場自日治時代即服務嘉義縣，1930 年代以軍事航空基地的身分創設。

機場以外，水上呈現出蓮花池、蘭花溫室與稻田交織的恬靜農村景觀。蓮花池在夏季（六至八月）尤為迷人，粉紅與純白的蓮花盛開於靜謐水面，吸引攝影愛好者與休閒遊客從嘉義市專程前來。水上也是蘭花種植的新興中心，溫室生產蝴蝶蘭供應國內外市場。
