🌲 Fanlu Township

Fanlu Township forms a transitional zone between the Chiayi plains and the high mountains, spanning elevations from 100 to nearly 1,400 meters. The township sits along County Road 18 — the main road to Alishan — meaning nearly every visitor to the famous mountain scenic area passes through Fanlu. This road corridor has become a scenic destination in its own right, with mountain restaurants, tea shops, and overlooks drawing travelers to linger.

Fanlu is famous across Taiwan for its persimmon production. The township's orchards produce round, sweet astringent persimmons that are dried over several weeks in autumn to create the chewy, honey-sweet dried persimmons beloved as a holiday gift. The township also contains stands of Japanese cedar planted during the colonial era, adding a characteristically green, forested silhouette to the hills.

番路鄉是嘉義平原與高山之間的過渡地帶，海拔從 100 公尺延伸至近 1,400 公尺。本鄉緊鄰通往阿里山的縣道 18 號，幾乎所有前往阿里山的遊客都會途經番路，使這條公路走廊本身成為一個景點，沿途山間餐廳、茶館與觀景台吸引旅人駐足。

番路以柿子生產聞名全台。鄉內果園生產圓潤甜美的澀柿，在秋季歷經數週風乾製成香甜有嚼勁的柿餅，是深受喜愛的節慶伴手禮。本鄉還種植了日治時代引入的日本柳杉，為丘陵增添了特有的翠綠林相。
