🦐 Budai Township

Budai Township stretches along the western coastline of Chiayi County, where the land meets the Taiwan Strait through a mosaic of salt pans, tidal fish ponds, and shrimp farms. For centuries, Budai was a major salt production center — the vast flat land and strong offshore winds made it ideal for solar salt evaporation. Today, while commercial salt production has largely ceased, the old salt pan landscape has been reimagined as an ecological park and arts space called Budai Salt Fields (布袋鹽田).

Budai Fishing Harbor is the largest port in Chiayi County, and the main departure point for ferries to the Penghu Islands. Fresh seafood — oysters, shrimp, grouper, and squid — arrives daily from fishing boats. The township's shrimp crackers (蝦餅) and dried shrimp products are beloved snacks throughout Taiwan.

布袋鎮沿著嘉義縣西海岸延伸，陸地與台灣海峽在此交界，形成鹽田、魚塭與蝦塭交織的海岸地景。數百年來，布袋是重要的鹽業生產地，廣闊平坦的土地與強勁的離岸風使其成為日曬製鹽的理想場所。今日商業鹽業雖已大幅式微，舊鹽田景觀已改建為布袋鹽田生態藝術園區。

布袋漁港是嘉義縣最大的港口，也是前往澎湖群島的主要渡輪出發點。來自漁船的新鮮海產每日到港，包括牡蠣、蝦子、石斑與魷魚。本鎮的蝦餅與蝦乾是全台灣深受喜愛的特產零食。
